Submatix 100 emCCR

Submatix SMSThe SUBMATIX CCR 100 SMS Rebreather (self-mixing system) is a mechanical self-mixing system that can be dived in the range of 0-40m. The system utilises a depth dependent constant flow dosage and offers the diver a Nitrox mix of 28-32% at all times. The rebreather has 2 x 2 litre gas cylinders (optional: 2 x 5 litres or an additional tank). The cylinder on the right contains 100% oxygen and the left hand cylinder contains diluent (nitrox or Trimix depending on the planned dive depth). The oxygen is “dosed” into the breathing loop via an adjustable flow nozzle (the setting corresponds to the individual consumption rate of the diver). Diluent gas is fed into the loop via an automatic demand valve (ADV). Oxygen can be manually injected into the system via the gas booster. The level of diluent gas can be manually influenced by using the ADV or by flushing the loop.

The SUBMATIX emCCR 100 has electronic gas injection to aid the manual control of a chosen setpoint within a closed circuit loop.

The Submatix emCCR 100 rebreather is designed for recreational dives to a maximum of 40m with Nitrox or for technical Trimix dives to 100m.

The comprehensive IART training reflects the standards required by the manufacturer of the rebreather. IART is authorized by the manufacturer to conduct this training. The course manual was written in consultation with the manufacturer and you will receive the current edition from your IART Instructor.

The IART Submatix CCR - Level 1 course trains and certifies the user to dive safely within no-decompression limits to the maximum safe depth of the Nitrox mix used.

Theory Presentation:

  • Familiarisation with all rebreather components
  • Correct preparation and routine maintenance
  • Dive planning and execution, Nitrox theory
  • Proof of knowledge (written test) covering theory, dive planning and execution, emergency management and rebreather components, concludes the theoretical development.

Practical Training:

  • Equipment preparation, care and maintenance
  • Dive planning and execution
  • Diving techniques and their application in open water
  • Emergency management

  1. Course:
Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver Level I (CCR I). No decompression dives. Air diluent
  2. Course objectives:
This course develops in the participant, the required abilities, knowledge and techniques to dive responsibly with the closed circuit “Submatix SMS / emCCR” rebreather within sport diving and nodecompression limits. After successful completion of the course the participant is granted the permission to dive with and purchase the Submatix CCR.
  3. Pre-requisites:
50 logged dives, Advanced Open Water diver or equivalent qualification, Nitrox Diver certification and a valid diving medical.
  4. Course content/duration:
All theoretical and practical aspects of diving with the “Submatix SMS emCCR” CCR as described in the IART-manual. In addition to time spent by the participant reading through the manual, the course duration is generally five days. It covers, in addition to extending and deepening the theoretical knowledge of the participant, training in pool/confined water and open water with not less than 6 dives and a minimum of 360 minutes total in-water time.
The instructor : student ratio is not permitted to exceed 1:2.
  5. Training aides:
IART Submatix SMS emCCR manual Level I, air/nitrox dive tables, NOAA exposure tables, flash-cards, personal instructor materials.
  6. Mandatory equipment:
complete diving equipment suitable to the environment, slate and pencil, bail-out cylinder und regulator with min. 600 litres supply, depth gauge and timer or dive computer.
  7. Training limits:
    max depth Pool/confined water: 5m.
    OW dive 1: max. 10m,
    OW dives 2 – 4: max 20m,
    OW dives 5 + 6: min. 15m – max. 30m.
Nodecompression CCR dives planned to remain within limits of O/C nitrox tables.
  8. Dive skills:
all skills contained in the IART CCR Level I manual must be taught and performed according to the required standards.
  9. Requirements for certification:
Following completion of the theory lessons a written test must be passed. After successful demonstration of all required practical diving skills the certification is documented by the issue of a certificate and a positive identification card (PIC). In accordance with IART quality control, both the participant and instructor must sign the appropriate training protocol. The Instructor must retain this protocol with the student’s other training documents.
  10. Certification:
    issued by IART HQ
  11. Zertification renewal:
    not required
