The rEvo III mCCR is a manually operated closed circuit rebreather based on the CMF (constant mass flow) principle. It is also available as a hCCR (hybrid), eCCR (electronic) and rMS (scrubber monitor) version.

The rEvo III is unique in using dual scrubbers and a cycle system. Two versions of the rEvo III are available: the Standard version is equipped with 3 litre cylinders and the smaller, mini version with 2 litre cylinders. However both versions can hold 3 and 2 litre cylinders. This is also true for the new micro-version. The unit is very low-profile and light to carry. This makes it a real joy to dive with.

To be fully informed about the options of this rebreather, the digital DiveCAN system and the optional Shearwater electronics a dedicated training is essential. The IART unit-specific user course, combined with the use of the course manual, will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to safely dive your chosen version of the rEvo III within the limits set by the Level I standards. It covers, in addition to extending and deepening the theoretical knowledge of the participant, training in pool/confined water and not less than 6 open water dives with not less than 480 minutes in-water time.
The instructor : student ratio is not permitted to exceed 1:2.

This course will prepare you to become a competent, disciplined and knowledgeable rEvo III diver who understands:

  • The physiological principles behind rebreather diving
  • The construction of the unit including assembly, disassembly, cleaning and maintenance
  • The possible dangers and potential mistakes
  • How to employ the best diving techniques with the unit
  • How to rescue another rebreather diver

The training reflects the standards required by the manufacturer of the rebreather. IART is authorized by the manufacturer to conduct this training. The course manual is constantly revised and improved in consultation with the manufacturer to reflect new developments resulting from technical improvements or gained through dive experience. You will receive the current edition from your IART rEvo III instructor.

 

rEvo III CCR Level 1 Standards

  1. Course:
    Closed Circuit Rebreather Diver Level I (CCR I).
    No decompression dives. Air diluent


  2. Course objectives:
    This course develops in the participant, the required abilities, knowledge and techniques to dive responsibly with the closed circuit rEvo rebreathers within sport diving and no-decompression limits to a limit of 40 metres using air diluent. After successful completion of the course the participant is entitled to dive with and purchase the rEvo III CCR.


  3. Pre-requisites:
    50 logged dives, IART Advanced Nitrox Diver or equivalent qualification and a valid diving medical.


  4. Course content/duration:
    All theoretical and practical aspects of diving with the rEvo III CCR as described in the IART-manual. In addition to time spent by the participant reading through the manual, the course duration is not less than five days. It covers, in addition to extending and deepening the theoretical knowledge of the participant, training in pool/confined water and open water with not less than 6 dives and a minimum of 480 minutes total in-water time.
    During confined and open water training the instructor : student ratio is not permitted to exceed 1:2.


  5. Training aides:
    IART rEvo III CCR manual Level I incorporating the manufacturers current manual, rEvodream chart, air/nitrox dive tables, NOAA exposure tables, flash-cards, personal instructor materials.


  6. Mandatory equipment:
    complete diving equipment suitable to the environment, slate and pencil, bail-out cylinder und regulator with min. 600 litres supply, depth gauge and timer or dive computer.


  7. Training limits:
    max depth Pool/confined water: 5m. Minimum 60 minutes.
    OW dives: Maximum 2 OW dives per day over minimum 3 days:
    dive 1: max. 10m, OW
    dive 2: max 15m, OW
    dives 3+4: min 10m - max 20m,
    OW dives 5 + 6: min. 20m – max. 30m.
    No-decompression CCR dives planned to remain within limits of O/C nitrox tables.


  8. Dive skills:
    all skills contained in the IART CCR Level I manual must be taught and performed according to the required standards.


  9. Requirements for certification:
    Following completion of the theory lessons a written test must be passed. After successful demonstration of all required practical diving skills the certification is documented by the issue of a certificate and a positive identification card (PIC). In accordance with IART quality control, both the participant and instructor must sign the appropriate training protocol. The Instructor must retain this protocol with the student’s other training documents and a copy must be sent to the rEvo manufacturer.
