About us!

IART was founded in 1997 as an international association of rebreather trainers.

IART stands for International Association of Rebreather Trainers. This became necessary because the rebreather technology continued to advance during this period and this progress was not taken into account in the sense of training programs on the part of the scuba diving federations.

IART has set itself the goal of making rebreather diving as safe as possible. In close cooperation with the manufacturers, IART has offered device-specific training with detailed manuals and courses in which the knowledge and diving skills imparted are precisely matched to the corresponding rebreather and the level of training.

In recent years, IART has excellent safety statistics and is fully respected by both manufacturers and divers. Nevertheless, we do not stop at this point and rest on our laurels. Worldwide, a growing number of best-trained IART instructors now offer the complete range of Open Circuit courses, starting with a very modern introductory course for recreational divers to Advanced Trimix.

IART has a system that offers the same service and costs to all instructor members worldwide. IART instructors can teach worldwide where local laws allow. As an IART instructor you can do a lot online and at any time: the certification of your student, the ordering of manuals for your students, the ordering of doctoral material – not only that, you can download all instructor training materials and presentations constantly and free of charge regardless of location (with the prerequisite of an Internet connection)!

Meanwhile, the IART logo is known and stands as a sign of quality. If you think you have exceptional instructor qualities, then IART is the right partner for you and you are the right instructor for us!

That is not all that IART offers though!

There is now a full range of open circuit courses, starting from the OWND Open Water Nitrox Diver certification right through to Advanced Trimix. Whichever course you might wish to take to extend your diving knowledge and skills you will find that IART offers “state of the Art” training to the highest of standards.

Not surprisingly IART-trained divers are recognised worldwide for their competence and IART training is approved by all rebreather manufacturers within RESA (read more about RESA) and our training satisfies the most stringent of regulations such as those of the HSE (health and Safety Executive) in the UK.

So who is who at IART?
